Product description
This ceramic plate is a piece from the Tournai manufactory, dating from the first half of the 19th century. It is distinguished by its emblematic decoration known as "à l'arbalète" (with the crossbow), a motif prized by collectors and lovers of antique faience.
Made of fine faience, the plate features a luminous white background on which a cobalt blue painted decoration stands out. The central motif consists of a crossbow framed by a laurel wreath tied at its base. The rim is adorned with a frieze of stylized leaves, typical of productions from this period. This piece testifies to the expertise of the Tournai manufactory, one of the most important in Belgium between 1800 and 1840.
The plate is in excellent condition for its age, having retained its brilliant enamel and the vibrancy of its decoration. The discreet patina acquired over time adds to its authentic character and historical charm. It presents no major defects, making it a beautiful example of Tournai ceramics.
Ideal as a collector's item, this plate can be displayed in a showcase, on a wall, or integrated into a cabinet of curiosities. It perfectly complements a classic, rustic, or eclectic interior, bringing a touch of European history and craftsmanship.
