Luna – Original Textile Artwork by V. Ninua
An original one-of-a-kind artwork by V. Ninua, created using the artist’s self-developed textile technique.
The composition is first developed on canvas and then built up by hand using braided jute rope and different types of thread. The individual fibres are carefully shaped and applied to create the portrait, colour transitions, texture and depth. This highly detailed process gives the surface a distinctive three-dimensional and tactile character.
“Luna” combines a realistic female portrait with expressive colour and texture. From a distance, the work reads as a painting, while from close up the individual threads and intricate handwork become clearly visible.
