Product description
Hi! And welcome to my ad! I am a furniture artist from South Africa, living in Portugal. I specialise in giving forgotten pieces a second life. Like a canvas brought to life, this 19th-century Renaissance Revival carved oak cabinet (armário de dois corpos) has been meticulously transformed into a living piece of fine art. Inspired by the soft, light-dappled palette of Monet’s iconic Water Lilies, this piece is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece—hand-crafted, irreplaceable, and impossible to replicate. Over 120 hours of dedicated hand restoration spanning 6 weeks went into honoring its history while infusing it with contemporary French Impressionist elegance. It has a ton of personality and is a substantial piece that makes a real statement, not just with its size but with its unique, artistic finish that sets it apart from traditional antique furniture. This cabinet is built in two sections, featuring four intricately carved doors and two central drawers, offering plenty of storage. The drawers and doors open smoothly. The exterior has been given a creative update with a distinctive color palette. A custom made dusty lavender, warm yellow(ochre) and soft turquoise and pink, all highlighted with gold accents on the carvings and hardware. In contrast, the interior and back reveal the original, rich grain of the oak wood, providing a warm and natural touch. The overall condition is solid, with a finish that is intentionally artistic rather than factory-perfect. This piece has its own character and small imperfections, as is expected with vintage oak. Art on the outside, while structurally sound and practical on the inside. This cabinet is perfect for anyone looking to add a bold, eclectic touch to their space. It would work wonderfully as a high board in a dining room, a display cabinet in a living area, or as a commanding focal point in a spacious entryway, blending historical form with a contemporary, bohemian spirit.
