About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
The Artifort Mushroom lounge chair, designed by Pierre Paulin in 1960, stands as a definitive icon of Mid-Century Modern and Space Age design. Presented here in a vibrant lime green colourway, this canonical piece is celebrated for its seamless, organic silhouette that revolutionized modern seating.
Constructed with a tubular steel frame covered in injected foam, the chair is fully upholstered in a highly durable, textured green textile that closely resembles classic wool blends. The dimensions are carefully proportioned for comfort, measuring 90 centimetres in width, 85 centimetres in depth, and 67 centimetres in height, with an accessible seat height of 40 centimetres. Paulin's innovative stretch-fabric technique allowed for the continuous, sculptural form that remains a hallmark of Artifort's manufacturing heritage.
This piece remains in great overall condition, retaining its structural integrity and the vivid saturation of its original upholstery. The fabric presents beautifully, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship and enduring quality characteristic of authentic Artifort production.
With its inviting curves and bold colour, the Mushroom chair serves as a striking focal point in contemporary living spaces, reading nooks, or eclectic interiors. It pairs exceptionally well with minimalist surroundings, allowing its sculptural form to take centre stage while providing unparalleled ergonomic comfort.
