Product description
This is the F598 lounge chair, an iconic design by French designer Pierre Paulin for the Dutch manufacturer Artifort. The piece, designed in 1972, is better known as 'Groovy' or 'M-Chair' due to its wavy, sculptural silhouette characteristic of the Space Age period.
The chair is made with a metal frame and fully upholstered in a vibrant, red wool textile fabric. The construction creates a flowing line that forms the seat, backrest, and armrests, resting on a discreet black base. The dimensions are 84 cm wide, 66 cm deep, and 64 cm high, with a comfortable seat height of 37 cm.
This particular piece is in exceptionally good condition, with the original upholstery having fully retained its color and texture. The shape is sleek and the structure is solid, testifying to careful preservation over the years. The design is an important example of Paulin's research into form and comfort.
As a striking design object, the Groovy lounge chair functions excellently as an accent piece in a contemporary, minimalist, or eclectic interior. It adds an element of playfulness and design history to a living room, study, or reception area.
