The Artemide Callimaco Floor Lamp is a design by Ettore Sottsass. This Italian designer was the founder of the Memphis group (1981-1987), a group of interior designers who resisted the strict functional rules of modernism of the time. This floor lamp is full of clear references to this style movement. It is a powerful design with clear colors and an unexpected combination of geometric shapes.
The Callimaco Floor Lamp resembles a match, which, with its soft red upwards lampshade, also seems to be ignited when the light is on. The lamp is equipped with a chrome handle that is not only functional but also has a subtle decorative value. A dimmer and light switch have been stylishly incorporated on the fixture under the handle.
