Superb glass vase signed Leune, a Parisian firm active in the 1920s-1930s, decorated by Auguste HEILIGENSTEIN (1891 - 1976).
Vase description.
■ Elegant slender form with straight neck, slightly flared towards the base.
■ The decoration, characteristic of Leune productions, is in polychrome enamel enhanced by a black border underlining the contours. It features bunches of violet/blue wisteria, surrounded by leaves in green and blue tones, arranged in natural movement across the height of the piece. The slightly raised enamel work adds texture and luminosity.
■ The top of the neck features a warm orange hue contrasting with the opaline white satin body.
Style and period.
■ This type of stylized floral decoration perfectly illustrates the Art Deco 1920-1930 period between naturalism and stylization.
■ La maison verrerie de Leune, active in Paris from 1861 to 1930, specialized in glassware decorated with colored enamel, in the spirit of the Daum, Muller Frères or Schneider workshops, but with a more pictorial and often floral identity.
■ Enamelled "Leune" signature on the body.
■ In very good condition.
