Elegant solid oak Art Deco furniture from the 20s and 30s.
■ The piece rests on four slender, straight legs, connected by a low shelf serving as a shelf.
■ The upper part is composed:
A front drawer with a gilded metal shell-style handle,
A compartment closed by a door, with a small brass handle,
A veined brown marble top, typical of period bedside units,
A backsplash adorned with a sculpted floral motif framed by rectangular moldings.
■The small carved decoration on the backsplash and the curves on the front of the cabinet still evoke the Art Nouveau heritage, but simplified, which corresponds well to the transition to Art Deco.
■ Straight, geometric lines (legs, panel surrounds).
■ Decor reduced to a few sculpted touches.
■ Alliance of solid wood (oak) and marble.
Its sober yet elegant style, combined with discreet decorative details, evokes a nascent Art Deco. This type of furniture was traditionally used as a bedside table, sometimes in bourgeois or country bedrooms.
