Resting on a mottled beige griotte marble base with beveled corners, a gilded bronze swallow with outstretched wings in a steep dive dominates the piece with remarkable energy and precision. The feathers are finely chiseled, and the characteristic forked tail is perfectly rendered. The inkwell itself is a small hexagonal gilded bronze flask with a hinged lid, set on a stepped, recessed plinth, a shape directly inspired by American skyscrapers, an emblematic motif of Art Deco from . The marble base features a central groove for resting a pen. Length 25 cm, width 13 cm, swallow height 12 cm. Good overall condition, with slight traces of wear on the bronze and sound marble without cracks. On a desk, console table, or shelf, this inkwell transforms any workspace into a cabinet of curiosities. Light plays upon the gilded bronze and mottled marble with a particular warmth.
