Private sellerProduct description
This is an elegant Art Deco inkwell, originating from Sweden in the 1930s. The piece exemplifies the geometric precision and refined materiality characteristic of the era, presenting a substantial and sophisticated desk accessory.
The inkwell is constructed from a solid, cube-shaped block of crystal glass, which has a subtle pale yellow hue. It houses a clear glass insert for the ink and is topped with a silver-plated metal cap. The design showcases the interplay between the heavy, light-refracting crystal and the metallic finish of the lid, a hallmark of Art Deco design principles.
Overall, the piece presents with character appropriate for its age. The crystal body remains in very good condition, retaining its clarity and sharp lines, while the silver-plated cap has developed a distinct patina over time.
As a functional object or a decorative piece, this inkwell adds a touch of historical gravitas to a classic study, home office, or writing desk. It pairs well with other period desk accessories or can serve as a standalone statement on a modern console or bookshelf.
