ProfessionalProduct description
This elegant antique biscuit box is a testament to the refinement of table arts from the Art Deco era, when everyday objects were designed to fully contribute to home decor. It characterfully combines a rectangular pressed glass container, a varnished wooden structure, a spectacular twisted gilded metal handle, and a lid adorned with a mirror painted with red roses and foliage. The thick, luminous glass features a delicate embossed decoration that plays with the light. It contrasts with the warm tones of the wood and the patinated luster of the metal, while the floral mirror adds a delicately romantic touch to the whole. Its highly architectural construction, the geometry of its base, and the mix of materials are characteristic of the Art Deco taste of the 1930s-1940s. The rigor of its lines is softened by the unexpected gentleness of the bouquet of roses painted on the mirror, a particularly charming detail that gives this piece its unique character. Originally intended for presenting biscuits, sweet treats, or candies, it evokes those carefully set tables where even delicacies had their special case. It can resume this use or simply be displayed on a sideboard, a serving table, or a table among other beautiful antique objects. The piece has spanned the decades and naturally retains some traces of time, particularly on the mirror and the metallic parts. These are visible in the photographs and appropriately accompany the antique character of the piece without detracting from its beautiful decorative presence. Width approximately 20 cm. Height with handle approximately 14 cm. France or Central Europe, circa .
