Private sellerProduct description
This is an original gouache on paper, depicting a Russian Orthodox church in a serene birch forest. The work, created in 1987, captures the characteristic atmosphere of the Russian landscape with a subtle and understated palette. The artwork is executed in gouache, an opaque watercolor technique that provides a matte finish and deep colors. The image itself measures 36 by 25 cm and is professionally framed behind anti-reflective glass. The total dimensions including the frame are 63 by 53 cm. The work is signed in pencil by the artist in the lower right corner. The olive green wooden frame with a double gold trim and a light beige passe-partout complements the colors of the drawing. The overall condition of the artwork is excellent, carefully preserved since its purchase. The colors are bright and the paper shows no signs of aging. This piece has a special provenance; it was purchased in 1987, during the Glasnost period, at an art market in Moscow. With its realistic style and historical context, this framed work is a distinctive addition to a classic or eclectic interior. It fits well in a living room, study, or hallway, where it can offer a subtle and cultural accent.
