Product description
Beautiful extendable dining table by Arne Vodder for Sibast Møbler. The table is a typical example of Danish Midcentury Modern, characterized by solidity, functionality, and elegant simplicity.
The square shape can easily be transformed into a spacious rectangular dining table thanks to the integrated extension leaves. When retracted, the table measures 100 by 100 cm and comfortably seats 4 people. When extended, the table becomes 200 by 100 cm and can easily seat 6 people, and 8 if needed. The carefully finished edges of solid rosewood emphasize Sibast's Danish craftsmanship.
The table is in good condition. The tabletop has been professionally refinished with a durable UV- and water-resistant lacquer, preserving its original appearance.
The table comes with 4 rosewood chairs by Arne Vodder, model 430 for Sibast. The table and chairs are sold exclusively as a set, see my other listings.
Arne Vodder was a student of Finn Juhl. His designs are characterized by calm, clear lines and rounded corners. His furniture was found in embassies and the United Nations. President Jimmy Carter and Anwar Sadat owned furniture by Arne Vodder. Vodder designed for renowned Danish furniture manufacturers such as Sibast, Fritz Hansen, and Cado. Arne Vodder, along with Aage Schmidt-Kristensen, Niels Moller, Ib Kofoed Larssen, Poul Cadovius, Kai Kristiansen, and Johannes Andersen, belonged to the Second Danish School.
