Product description
Extendable dining table by Arne Vodder for Sibast Møbler. The table is a good example of Danish Midcentury Modern with a beautiful design, solid connections, functionality, magnificent material use and elegant simplicity.
The square shape can easily be enlarged into a spacious rectangular dining table by the integrated extension leaves. When retracted, the table measures 100 by 100 cm and can comfortably seat 4 people. When extended, the table becomes 200 by 100 cm and can easily seat 6 people, and 8 if necessary. The carefully finished edges of solid rosewood emphasize Sibast's craftsmanship.
The table is in good used condition. The tabletop has been professionally refinished with a durable UV- and water-resistant lacquer, preserving its original appearance.
There are also 4 matching rosewood chairs by Arne Vodder, model 430 for Sibast. See my other listings.
Arne Vodder was a student of Finn Juhl. His designs are characterized by calm, clear lines and rounded corners. Arne Vodder's furniture was found in embassies and the United Nations. President Jimmy Carter and Anwar Sadat owned furniture by Arne Vodder.
Vodder designed for renowned Danish furniture manufacturers such as Sibast, Fritz Hansen and Cado. Arne Vodder, along with Aage Schmidt-Kristensen, Niels Moller, Ib Kofoed Larssen, Poul Cadovius, Kai Kristiansen and Johannes Andersen, belonged to the Second Danish School.
