Stoneware Vase by Antoine De Vinck (1924-1992)
Antoine de Vinck was a Belgian ceramist, designer, and sculptor. After studying philosophy and theology, he turned to art in 1948, focusing primarily on drawing and book illustration. He is considered one of the leading figures in the revival of ceramic art in Europe after World War II. His work includes pottery pieces such as plates, pots, and bowls, as well as sculptures and industrial designs.
De Vinck was also involved with the World Crafts Council (WCC) and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Europe, as well as in South Africa, Canada, and Japan. His work is characterized by a strong sacred and conceptual dimension, inspired by ancient and primitive cultures, particularly African art.
