Product description
This antique wooden Tara statue is an authentic devotional object from the Himalayan region, crafted in the 19th century. The statue depicts Tara, the female bodhisattva of protection, compassion, and swift assistance, a central figure within the Vajrayana Buddhism of Nepal and Tibet. The statue is hand-carved from wood and shows clear signs of age, use, and ritual handling. Remnants of red pigments and natural surface wear indicate long-term religious use, presumably within a private altar or small monastic context. Its provenance from a former museum and gallery collection (Peter Hardt Gallery) underscores the authenticity and quality of this object. This is not a decorative image, but an original Himalayan statue with its own history and spiritual function. Dimensions: 11.5 × 7.5 × 3 cm Weight: approx. 100 grams Expertise & Symbolism Would you like to fully understand the deeper iconographic meaning, the correct mudras, and the ritual context of this object?
