Charming slant-front desk in painted cherry wood, with a drop-front and turned legs. Late 19th/Early 20th century.
The entire piece is made of solid cherry wood, while the interior top is pine. The painted surface has a superb patina of a beautiful seafoam green, with chips and cracks from use. We have fully protected it with three coats of matte, colorless varnish.
Old traces of woodworm (completely stabilized).
This desk has a lock, but the key is missing. The keyhole is adorned with a gilt brass piece. Originally, it was intended to hold a shelf or storage unit, which is also missing, but the corner brackets for securing it remain.
The interior top, heavily stained, has been completely cleaned and sanded. Some stains and ink marks remain around the inside edge. The turned wooden legs are no longer perfectly square, but this does not affect the desk's stability.
This charming, vintage-style desk will bring a lovely rustic touch to your home. Its simple, elegant lines remain discreet and understated. It offers a large work surface suitable for both adults and children.
