Antique faux bamboo mirror with original mirror plate and wooden back, completely in Chinoiserie style, this style was very popular in the art nouveau period, originating from France, this specimen dates from around the end of the 19th century.
This beautiful wooden frame has been carved and crafted to resemble real bamboo, hence the name faux bamboo, this piece bears a beautiful weathered age patina, the mirror glass is weathered and heavily mocked up, which is highly sought after by collectors and often occurs with very old mirrors.
