This ritual collectible dates from the late 19th to early 20th century (approx. ) and is in sublime, unrestored condition. Thanks to its immense age, all moisture has completely evaporated from the wood cells, explaining its light weight of 600 grams. Robust Structure & Carved Iconography This mask is distinguished by its unique, almost square proportions and brings a raw, untamed atmosphere to any high-end or modern interior: Geometric Lip Contours: Around the carved-open mouth cavity, the master carver has deeply carved a razor-sharp, double leaf-shaped contour line into the wood. This gives the mask an intriguing, stylized smile. The nose is heavily, flatly, and solidly shaped. Fibrous "Pitting" Skin: The entire front surface reveals the pure biology of ancient hardwood. The surface is replete with natural pitting marks, shrinkage cracks on the forehead, and a layered, dark patina from ingrained temple soot and ambient air. Original Mounting Remains: On the sides are the authentic, hand-drilled holes, in which the historical, weathered carrying cords are still partly present. This proves the active, ritual use history of the mask.
