Antique Victorian carved tree trunk boots, late 19th century.
Hand-carved ankle boots, beautifully detailed and with precise proportions. The detailed carving mimics the construction seen in real boots, complete with laces and bows, and hand-painted.
These boots were displayed in the window of a shoe shop, just like a shop sign, to show what was for sale.
Hollowed out at the top with a small storage compartment.
A beautiful example of small-scale folk art. Unsigned.
Origin: France.
Height: 29.5 cm.
Width: 10 cm.
Depth/size: 25 cm.
The boots have natural signs of wear but are in good condition.
