A unique and highly decorative bamboo occasional table from the late 19th century, typical of the English Aesthetic Movement. This model is distinguished by its asymmetrical, stepped design with two underlying tiers and a functional drawer. The top, drawer, and shelves feature beautiful, hand-painted black lacquer (Japanning) with a refined Chinoiserie decor of birds on blossoming branches. The characteristic frame is entirely constructed from natural bamboo poles, with the corner joints also authentically crafted from bent bamboo. A rarer model with a magnificent historical patina, perfect as a side table or plant stand in an eclectic interior. Dimensions: 52 cm wide, 33 cm deep, and 77 cm high. No. 7919
