This antique trunk with drawer in pine wood is a hinged-lid chest with a base drawer and bracket feet. It originates from Central Europe, from the early twentieth century, within rustic storage furniture. Trunks and chests kept clothing, trousseau and household goods in the home, and also accompanied moves. Their hinged lid and robust body answered to everyday, lasting use. The body is solid pine, with an upper chest with a hinged lid and a full-width base drawer with a cup pull. The construction is solid and keeps its hardware. The patina is warm and blond, with the pine grain on view and soft wear. The surface reads authentic, with no restoration to mask it. For its format, it serves as a chest at the foot of the bed, a low table or a storage piece. It fits rustic, country and wabi-sabi interiors, where it brings warmth and an honest presence.
