The serene posture, high flaming ushnisha, and elongated earlobes are consistent with the iconography of the Rattanakosin period and the renewed interest in the Sukhothai style. The face is strongly defined by the inlaid eyes. The light whites of the eyes and dark pupils give the Buddha a lively, concentrated appearance. The hands rest in the lap in Dhyana Mudra, the gesture of meditation and inner balance. Historical surface and patina The gold-colored surface shows wear, fine polishing and usage marks, and local discoloration. A distinct turquoise-green patina is visible around the stylized hair curls, while the raised areas have been more worn down by prolonged handling and polishing. Red and dark residues around the hair and ears contribute to the historical stratification of the sculpture. The plinth is composed of multiple decorative levels with stylized lotus leaves and a broad hexagonal base. With a height of 40.5 cm, a width of 31.5 cm, and a weight of 4.8 kg, the sculpture has a sturdy, monumental presence. Material-technically investigated According to the accompanying research report, the object was examined using macrophotography, digital microscopy, and 365 nm UV light. Among other things, traditional casting and polishing marks, copper-containing corrosion, a preserved lime and gypsum-like casting core with dark aggregates, and aging characteristics in the inlaid eyes were documented. These observations support the attribution to an older Thai casting from the 19th century. Condition Good antique condition with clear signs of age and use. Present are, among other things, wear of the gold-colored finish, patina and corrosion around the hair, small scratches, discolorations, local white and dark residues, casting irregularities, and old marks around joints and hands. The very top of the ushnisha has historical damage. The open underside shows the preserved casting core. Please examine all detailed photos carefully as an integral part of the condition description.
