The surface shows a deep, natural patina with heavy mineral incrustation and oxidation, which beautifully contrasts with the remaining gold tones of the fire gilding. Particularly noteworthy about this piece is its intact double sealing: both the reverse side and the base plate of the lotus throne are still originally sealed. This means that the spiritual consecration (including mantra scrolls and relics) is still fully present, giving this piece rare museum status. Iconography & Symbolism Tara is presented here in an elegant Tribhanga pose (the classic triple bend of the body), which lends her unparalleled grace and dynamism. In her left hand, she holds the stem of a lotus flower (utpala), a symbol of spiritual purity and enlightenment. Her facial expression is serene and meditative, with finely detailed ornamentation, a high crown, and large earrings typical of the golden age of Nepalese bronze casting.
