A small devotional object that possesses much more presence than its dimensions might suggest. This antique silver-plated candlestick exhibits an almost monumental architecture, with its stepped hexagonal base, slender stem, and elaborate relief decorations. On the main face appears the Miraculous Virgin, surrounded by rays, an emblematic motif of Marian devotion that gained immense popularity in France from the 19th century onwards. The ornamentation extends to the smallest details. Small roses, volutes, radiating lines, and geometric patterns adorn the entire piece. The metal's patina has naturally settled into the recesses of the relief and now highlights each ornament, giving the candlestick a depth that new objects simply lack. It is also one of those once-familiar objects, passed down and preserved because they accompanied the intimacy of a home.
