Product description
Antique sideboard in pine wood, from China, with a simple line. Originates from the tradition of Chinese domestic furniture of the Qing Dynasty, when pine was worked with functional intent for daily use.
This two-door sideboard was placed in the living room or bedroom of the home, used to store clothing and everyday objects.
Built from solid pine wood using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, the front is arranged in two flat-panel doors fitted with ring-shaped iron pulls, standing on straight legs.
The absence of carving or paint lets the natural grain of the pine take centre stage, with knots and dark streaks giving each board its own character.
The patina, warm and natural, retains the wear of generations of use in the traditional Chinese home.
In a minimalist or wabi-sabi bedroom or entryway, it works as a discreet storage sideboard, with the warmth of natural wood.
