Product description
Antique sideboard in pine wood, from China, with a functional composition. Originates from the tradition of Chinese domestic furniture of the Qing Dynasty, when a top drawer was combined with lower doors to organise storage.
This sideboard, with two doors and a full-width drawer, was placed in the main room of the home, used for tableware and frequently used objects.
Built from solid pine wood using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, it features a top drawer above two flat-panel doors, all fitted with ring-shaped iron pulls.
The layout, with the drawer centred at the top, follows a practical scheme common in Chinese auxiliary furniture, meant to separate small objects from the tableware stored behind the doors.
The patina, warm and even, retains marks and small stains characteristic of continued use in the traditional home.
In a farmhouse or eclectic kitchen or dining room, it works as an orderly storage sideboard, with the natural warmth of pine.
