Product description
Antique sideboard in pine wood, from China, with shaped door frames. Originates from the tradition of Chinese domestic furniture of the Qing Dynasty, when door outlines were carved into wavy curves as the sole decorative device.
This four-door sideboard, arranged in two sections, was placed in the main room of the home, used for tableware and household items.
Built from solid pine wood using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, the front is arranged in two pairs of doors with shaped, carved frames and ring-shaped iron pulls.
The curved outline, carved along the top and inner edge of each door, forms a wavy silhouette that breaks the rigidity of the flat panel, a device common in Chinese auxiliary furniture of the period.
The patina, warm and natural, retains the wear of generations of use, without losing the crisp line of the carved outline.
In an eclectic or rustic-chic dining room or living room, it works as the main sideboard, its shaped silhouette bringing movement to the composition.
