Product description
Antique sideboard in pine wood, from China, with carved scroll detail. Originates from the tradition of Chinese domestic furniture of the Qing Dynasty, when door corners were reserved for small carved foliate motifs.
This four-door sideboard, arranged in two sections, was placed in the main room of the home, used for tableware and everyday items.
Built from solid pine wood using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, the front is arranged in two pairs of flat-panel doors with carved scroll motifs at the top corners and ring-shaped iron pulls.
The motif, contained to the corner of each door, combines a central scroll with stylised leaves, a targeted decorative device that does not disturb the overall restraint of the piece.
The patina, warm and even, retains the natural wear of generations of use, with the carved detail still clearly legible.
In an eclectic or rustic-chic dining room or entryway, it works as the main sideboard, its carved detail adding visual interest.
