Product description
Antique sideboard in elm wood, from China, with its original patina. Originates from the tradition of Chinese domestic furniture of the Qing Dynasty, when elm was worked with almost no ornament for daily use in the home.
This three-door sideboard was placed in the main room of the home, used for tableware and frequently used household items.
Built from solid elm wood using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, the front is arranged in three flat-panel doors fitted with ring-shaped iron pulls, standing on straight legs.
The surface, free of carving or paint, retains its original patina with no later intervention, an uncommon trait that confirms its authenticity.
The tone, unevenly darkened by the passage of time, reveals areas of heavier wear alongside better-preserved ones, the result of generations of continued use.
In an eclectic or moody-interior living room or library, it brings chromatic depth as a storage sideboard with its own history.
