Product description

Antique sideboard in elm and pine wood, from China, with a symmetrical composition. Originates from the tradition of Chinese domestic furniture of the Qing Dynasty, when larger sideboards organised storage in the main room. This four-door sideboard, arranged in two sections, was placed in the living room of the home, used to store tableware and textiles. Built from elm and pine wood using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, the front is arranged in two pairs of flat-panel doors fitted with ring-shaped iron pulls, standing on straight legs. The repetition of the two-door scheme across both sections brings rhythm and symmetry to the composition, with no ornament beyond the structure itself. The patina, natural and even, retains the accumulated wear of generations of use in the traditional Chinese home. In an eclectic or farmhouse dining room or living room, it works as the main sideboard, with generous storage capacity.
