About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
Antique trunk in pine wood, from Central Europe. Originates from rural domestic furniture of the turn of the century, when this type of chest was used for transporting and storing grain or bed linen.
Pieces of this type were made with a tapered profile to ease stacking and transport, and were common in granaries and country homes across Central Europe.
The dovetail-jointed structure narrows toward the base and features ring-shaped wrought iron side handles and an original lock on the front.
The original grey paint shows the wear typical of more than a century of use, with the pine wood visible in the areas of greatest handling.
In a contemporary entryway or living room, it works as a storage trunk or side table, bringing the genuine character of Central European rural furniture.
