Antique kitchen island in pine wood, from Central Europe, in the French provincial style. Originates from a European domestic kitchen of the early 20th century, with the pine painted to protect the wood from daily use.
Tables of this compact format were used as an auxiliary work surface in smaller kitchens, complementing the main furniture.
The pine top rests on four straight legs, joined by an H-shaped stretcher with a central brace, and includes a drawer with a wooden knob for storing small utensils.
The original paint, in a greyish tone, retains use marks on the surface of the top and slight wear on the knob typical of decades of domestic use.
In a smaller kitchen, it works as an auxiliary island or side table, bringing the warm character of French provincial furniture.
