A very pretty Sarreguemines earthenware serving dish, likely made around the 1930s-1940s, whose decor possesses that particular presence of French interwar earthenware. On the ivory background, a large rose unfolds, with red-orange and yellow tones, surrounded by foliage rendered in subtle shades of gray and green. The design is grand, almost theatrical, yet the piece retains a beautiful sobriety thanks to the simple red line that outlines the dish. It is precisely this contrast that gives it its character: a classic form, intended for table service, awakened by a much freer and more modern floral decoration. It also tells of an era when French manufacturers knew how to give everyday objects a true decorative identity. The reverse bears the "Marechal Miel - Sarreguemines" marking, attesting to its French production. With its 31 cm in length and approximately 22 cm in width, the dish has beautiful proportions: sufficiently present to serve as a table dish, without being cumbersome.
