A beautiful, very early antique oak fekenykist (so-called 'six-plank chest' or 'Stollentruhe').
This robust piece of furniture dates from the 17th or 18th century and has a fantastic lived-in character. The model features a very sleek, austere, and sturdy design.
The sides run down in one piece and, with the characteristic V-shaped notch, form the legs directly. It offers not only practical storage space but is also ideal for use as a unique coffee table, TV unit, side table, or blanket chest at the foot of the bed.
The chest is fitted with a beautiful, original wrought-iron lock plate on the front, which unfortunately does not work (yet).
The construction displays traditional wood joints and a simple yet functional design characteristic of antique storage furniture. The dark brown color emphasizes the natural wood grain and the age of the material.
The chest is in authentic vintage condition with the inevitable signs of the ravages of time. As can be seen in the photos, a small piece of wood has broken off the underside of the left leg, and the chest is missing a wooden dowel or nail here and there. For the enthusiast, this actually gives it the perfect, weathered look, but it can also be restored.
