Beautiful, authentic, and heavy Moroccan ceramic wall plate / bowl with a fixed solid silver rim (unhallmarked). This is an antique Moroccan wall plate, crafted from ceramic with a distinctive solid silver rim. The piece is notable for its traditional North African design, combining rustic earthenware with precious metalwork, a hallmark of the region's decorative arts. Designed to serve as wall decoration, this is a high-quality handmade work of art from Morocco (Safi/Fez). Specifications: Diameter: 35 cm. Depth: 8 cm. Weight: 1587 grams (very robust and heavy ceramic). Material & Construction: The plate is constructed from terracotta clay, finished with a deep cobalt blue glaze that displays a high-gloss, slightly irregular surface. The wide rim is adorned with hand-worked silver panels, secured with twisted silver wire detailing that adds textural contrast. The rim is made of genuine solid silver. When polishing, the characteristic black silver oxide comes off. The second-to-last photo shows the paper used for cleaning, which serves as proof of the authenticity of the silver. It is therefore not a cheap silver-plated layer or chrome that wears off. The metal rim is attached to the ceramic and cannot be removed. The silver elements have developed a patina over time, which can be polished for a brighter finish or left to preserve its aged appearance. Hanging system: Equipped with the original, baked-in holes in the unglazed foot ring on the reverse side to safely secure the bowl to the wall. Condition: In good antique condition, retaining its vibrant color and structural integrity. The ceramic shows natural crazing in the glaze, a common characteristic of aged pottery that adds to its authentic character. Additionally, there are minor signs of wear (see detail photos): A small chip / glaze damage on the blue inside. The silver rim is slightly loose from the ceramic in one specific spot. In addition, the silver is slightly bent, as the photos show. Style & Interior: As a piece of wall decoration, this plate brings a touch of authentic Bohemian or Tribal style to an interior. It can serve as a focal point in a living room, hallway, or dining area, pairing well with natural materials like wood and textiles.
