Product description
Antique low table in elm wood, from China and the Qing Dynasty. Originates from southern China, from the mid-19th century, made using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.
This type of low table was used alongside low seating or kangs in the traditional Chinese home, as a support for the tea service or everyday objects.
The square solid elm top rests on four straight, sturdy-sectioned legs, joined by an H-shaped stretcher that runs across the structure and reinforces its stability.
The wood retains an aged, amber-toned patina, with use marks visible on both the top and the base of the legs.
In a contemporary or wabi-sabi living room, it works as a coffee table or low side table, bringing geometric sobriety and natural warmth.
