Private sellerProduct description
This collector's item is a commemorative cup with a saucer, manufactured by the renowned Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (KPM) Berlin. The set was created to commemorate the Saar plebiscite of January 13, 1935, a significant event in German history. It is a contemporary historical document that combines KPM's high craftsmanship with a specific political moment.
The set is made of fine porcelain. The outside of the cup shows a stylized map of the Saar region, while the saucer bears the inscription „Deutsch ist die Saar, Deutsch immerdar 13.1.1935“. The color scheme combines a pearlescent light blue with white porcelain, orange-red lettering, and fine, silver-colored rim lines. Both parts are stamped on the underside with KPM's blue scepter mark and red imperial orb, confirming their authenticity and origin.
For its age of almost 90 years, the set is in very good condition. The colors and lettering are clearly and distinctly preserved, and the porcelain shows no visible damage. The unusual, elegant shape of the cup with its curved handle is characteristic of the design of the era and emphasizes the quality of the manufacturer.
As a historical artifact and an example of KPM's product history, this set is an interesting object for collectors of porcelain or individuals interested in German history. It is excellently suited for display in a showcase or as part of a curated collection of objects from the 1930s.
