Antique Javanese Loro Blonyo – Solid Teak – 8.4 kg – c. 1930 This exceptional pair of Loro Blonyo (The Inseparable Couple) represents the pinnacle of Javanese folk art from the early 20th century. Originating from a private Dutch estate, this set displays the heft, patina, and integrity sought after by serious collectors of Indonesian antiques. Iconography and Symbolism The figures depict the fertility goddess Dewi Sri and her consort Raden Sadono. Traditionally placed in the central part of aristocratic Javanese homes, they symbolize harmony, prosperity, and the eternal marital bond. Unlike smaller souvenirs, this set exhibits the dignified "Simpuh" sitting posture and refined court attire. Technical Craftsmanship and Condition Crafted from heavy, solid teak wood (Tectona grandis) with a substantial combined weight of 8.4 kg. The faces and hands show deep craquelure in the pigment layer, indicating decades of natural desiccation.
