Antique Japanese low table with drawers crafted in Japanese cedar and shorea wood, dating to the early Showa period (circa 1926–1945). Tables of this type were commonly used in Japanese homes as writing desks, work tables or low tables within traditional living spaces. The piece features a balanced structure with two front drawers providing practical storage for writing tools or small household items. Its restrained design reflects the understated elegance typical of early 20th-century Japanese furniture. The table is primarily made from Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica), appreciated for its lightness and stability, combined with shorea wood (Shorea spp.) in structural elements. The metal drawer handles retain their simple functional character. The surface displays a warm patina developed through decades of use. Small marks, tonal variations and signs of wear contribute to the authenticity and history of the piece. Today this table can function as a coffee table, low desk or side table, bringing a calm and natural presence to contemporary interiors inspired by Japanese aesthetics or Japandi design.
