Product description
This antique Japanese low table is a floor table in wood with two drawers in the apron. It originates from Japan, from the Taisho period, when domestic life took place at tatami level.
These low tables (zataku) were used to eat, write or take tea seated on the tatami. The drawers kept utensils close at hand.
The top is of thick wood, probably zelkova (keyaki), on sturdy legs. The apron houses two drawers with iron pulls.
The wood keeps a warm patina and its grain in view, with soft marks of use. The surface reads authentic, with no restoration to mask it.
Today it serves as a coffee table, tea table or low side table. It fits wabi-sabi, japandi and rustic interiors, where it brings warmth and material presence.
