A very beautiful antique hallway brush cabinet with mirror, probably dating from the late 19th/early 20th century (circa 1890–1920). This dating is based on stylistic features, materials used, and construction and is an expert assessment; there is no maker's mark or documentation to confirm an exact year. This type of cabinet originally hung in the hallway of upper-class homes and was used to brush clothes and hats, and to check appearance upon entering or leaving. Today, it is a decorative and characterful interior piece. Description The cabinet is made of wood with a richly decorated repoussé brass front (pressed metal), featuring classical ornamentation in the Art Nouveau/late Neo-Renaissance style. Behind the door are the original brushes, making this piece complete and attractive to enthusiasts and collectors. The mirror is original and intact.
