Product description
Antique jug in glazed ceramic, from Central Europe. A piece of hand-decorated folk pottery from the early 20th century.
Narrow-necked jugs like this one were used in rural homes to store and serve water or wine.
The ovoid body, with a marked shoulder, ends in a neck turned in rings with a ribbon handle that runs from the neck down to the shoulder. On the cream glaze it carries a hand-painted bouquet of pink and red flowers with green leaves and a yellow stem.
The cream glaze has a soft sheen, with small chips and flecks of paint, and the mouth shows the pinkish clay.
On a sideboard or a wooden table, it works as a vase for branches and wild flowers.
