Product description
Beautiful antique French style mantel/table clock from the late 19th century, featuring a unique historical Dutch connection.
The enamel dial bears the name "J.H. OVING Groningen", a renowned luxury watchmaker and jeweler establishment founded in 1794 in the Netherlands (their historic store was tragically destroyed in 1945, making this a rare surviving piece of local history).
Features & Details:
• Style: Beautiful French Historicism / Neo-Rococo design, featuring a romantic figurine holding a bird cage.
• Material: Ornate gilded/patinated metal alloy (régule/zinc), typical for high-end 19th-century French decorative clocks.
• Movement: Quality mechanical movement stamped with the serial number "735". The movement is in working condition!
• Accessories: Comes with its winding key. (Note: Pendulum is missing).
• Provenance: Includes a vintage service sticker on the back from the specialist workshop "de Tijdmeter" in Haarlem, proving it was well cared for over the decades.
Condition:
The clock body is in gorgeous, very clean aesthetic condition with a wonderful vintage patina. The movement runs, but since the pendulum is missing, it will need a replacement pendulum to regulate the time properly. A wonderful piece for collectors or as a high-end home decoration.
