This antique folk glazed pottery pot is a crock with a teal glaze and a handle lug. It originates from Central Europe, from the first half of the twentieth century, within folk glazed pottery.
Folk glazed pottery equipped the kitchen and pantry of the rural home, to serve and to store. Its fired clay and its glaze answered to daily use.
The piece is hand-thrown in fired clay and covered with glaze, with the irregular making proper to traditional pottery. It keeps its form and its function.
The teal glaze covers the body to the foot, where the ochre clay shows. The deep shine of the glaze contrasts with the uncovered base.
For its form and its glaze, it serves as a vase, a table piece or an accent in a kitchen or on a shelf. It fits rustic, country and wabi-sabi interiors, where it brings colour and warmth.
