This antique folk glazed pottery jug is a spouted jug with an amber glaze and slip-dot decoration, dated 1974. It originates from Central Europe, within twentieth-century folk glazed pottery. Folk glazed pottery equipped the kitchen and pantry of the rural home, to serve and to store. Its fired clay and its glaze answered to daily use. The piece is hand-thrown in fired clay and covered with glaze, with the irregular making proper to traditional pottery. It keeps its form and its function. The front bears the date “74” painted and a decoration of dark slip dots over the amber glaze. The glaze keeps its warm shine, with the wear proper to use. For its form and its glaze, it serves as a vase, a table piece or an accent in a kitchen or on a shelf. It fits rustic, country and wabi-sabi interiors, where it brings colour and warmth.
