This distinctive object dates from the early 20th century (approx. ) and is in fabulous, unrestored antique condition. A pristine example of pre-industrial handwork that bears witness to decades of devotion and careful use. Layered Lacquer Finish & Timeless Design This lacquer jar stands out for its minimalist, powerful design and brings a warm, historically rich atmosphere to any high-end or modern Asian interior: Hand-Turned Wooden Base: The underside of the jar reveals the pristine, concentric circular grooves from the traditional manual lathe. The jar was skillfully shaped from a single solid block of wood, guaranteeing its stable and substantial quality. Traditional Tree Resin Lacquer: The entire surface is built up from countless, successive layers of natural red lacquer paste. The finish displays those magnificent, fine horizontal brushstrokes and craquelure marks typical of early lacquer workshops. Honest Base Ring Wear: Along the bottom base ring, the red lacquer layer has naturally worn away due to decades of use and movement.
