Beautiful, original black-and-white etching by the renowned Dutch artist and printmaker Marius Janssen (1885–1957), featuring an atmospheric historic cityscape of Delft. This detailed artwork depicts the characteristic Vrouwenregt in Delft, complete with the iconic arched bridge and historic waterfront facades.
Janssen was known for his extremely precise, topographical cityscapes. This work is a beautiful piece of Dutch nostalgia.
Features: Signature: Authentically signed in pencil by the artist in both the lower left (title: "Delft. Vrouwenregt") and lower right ("Marius Janssen").
Framing: The work is housed in the original wooden frame with a textured mat.
Dating: Presumably created around 1930-1940.
Condition: The etching itself is in good vintage condition. Please note that the mat shows clear age spots (foxing) due to the passage of time (see photos). For a perfect result, the work can optionally be fitted with a new, acid-free mat by the new owner, but it can also be hung directly on the wall as is for an authentic, antique look.
