ProfessionalProduct description
Antique console table in elm wood, from China and the Qing Dynasty. Originates from southern China, from the early 20th century, made using the traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery typical of Chinese furniture.
Consoles of this type were placed in the entryway or near the main door of the traditional Chinese home, as the first support piece upon entering.
The solid elm top rests on four straight, square-section legs, joined by a double horizontal stretcher that runs across the structure and reinforces its stability.
The wood retains a uniform golden tone, with occasional use marks on the surface of the top and small losses at the corners typical of its age.
In a contemporary entryway, it works as a welcoming first piece, combining the sobriety of its lines with the natural warmth of elm.
