Product description
Antique bench in elm wood, from China. An everyday bench from rural China, dating to the late Qing dynasty.
It was a working and gathering piece, set by the house door or near the stove for evening conversation.
The seat, made from a single elm plank, rests on two pairs of splayed A-shaped legs joined by tenoned stretchers.
The long plank, in a clean honey tone, keeps its original thickness and the marks of the tools that shaped it.
Along a dining table or in a garden, it works as a long bench that adds seating without crowding the space.
